OUR COMMITMENT
Our deep-rooted commitment to the environment permeates every facet of our existence. Here's how we're cultivating a sustainable haven where nature thrives:
Our Commitment to the Land, Wildlife & Future Generations
1. Regenerative Land & Biodiversity Care
We manage our property with regenerative-farming practices designed to restore soil health, enhance biodiversity, support natural water-cycles, and build ecological resilience — not deplete or degrade the land. Our approach nurtures a thriving, self-sustaining ecosystem that benefits both native flora and fauna, using only minimal chemicals.
We have committed to preserving the native tree canopy. Alongside, we have planted more than 250 fruit and native trees, cultivating a living forest-garden environment that enriches soil, supports micro-climates, and provides habitat for wildlife.
2. Waste, Water & Energy Stewardship
We prioritise composting, including some compost toilets and organic-waste recycling. Kitchen and garden scraps are returned to the earth, closing the loop and supporting soil regeneration.
Wherever possible, we replace fossil-fuelled machinery with electric vehicles and equipment for farm operations and maintenance — reducing emissions and minimising disturbance to native animals and plants.
Approximately 90 % of our electricity is generated by our own solar installation.
We practise responsible water use: harvesting rainwater and managing water resources carefully to avoid impact on natural springs, creeks or groundwater, and embedding conservation into our daily operations.
3. Conscious Food: Farm-to-Table & Ethical Sourcing
We are building toward a farm-to-table model: vegetables, fruits, and herbs grown on our land or in our local area will supply guest meals, reducing supply-chain impacts, lowering food miles, and supporting sustainability and self-reliance. (meals are not included in the regular accommodation costs.)
When additional produce is needed, we prioritise locally and sustainably sourced ingredients — supporting nearby growers while minimising transport-related environmental impacts.
4. Education & Nature-Immersion for Guests
Education is at the heart of our sanctuary’s mission. We offer guests opportunities to learn about sustainable living, regenerative agriculture, native-plant cultivation, and low-impact lifestyles — providing ecological literacy and fostering respect for the land.
Our retreat stays are designed for immersive, low-impact engagement with the natural landscape — not as a conventional holiday resort, but as a space for mindful eco-retreats that respect and preserve natural and cultural values.
5. Low-Impact Tourism Ethos & Responsible Guest Experience
Our accommodation is deliberately small-scale (6 cabins, maximum 12 guests) so as to limit environmental impact and avoid over-tourism or ecological stress on the land.
We ask our guests to support our conservation efforts by following simple guidelines:
As part of minimum impact on the land and its wildlife habitats, we strongly encourage guests not to bring or consume meat on the property, to reduce pressure on wildlife and ecosystem balance.
To protect the quiet and tranquillity of the sanctuary and to avoid distress to wildlife, we ask that guests do not play loud music.
For the safety of wildlife and to prevent disturbance or harm to others, pets are not permitted on the property.
We maintain transparency and compliance: we operate under proper approvals, adhere to safety and environmental-management protocols, and continuously strive to improve our sustainable practices.
6. Giving Back: Long-Term Habitat Restoration & Tree Planting
More than simply maintaining the land we steward, we actively engage in habitat restoration, native-species planting, soil regeneration, and ecological stewardship — with the ambition to leave the land in better health than we inherited.
We view the sanctuary as a living, evolving project — a place where the land regenerates, biodiversity flourishes, and future generations can experience restored, authentic nature.
As part of our restoration commitment, we have dedicated approximately 9,020 m² of our grounds as a restoration area — set aside for habitat renewal, native-species planting, and ecological regeneration.
